Octanol
A versatile C8 fatty alcohol for plasticizers and fragrances.
Overview
1-Octanol (n-Octanol) is an eight-carbon fatty alcohol produced as part of Sebacic Oman's castor oil valorisation process. A key building block for plasticizer synthesis (including Green DOP), fragrance compounds, and surfactant intermediates.
Applications
Plasticizer Synthesis
Primary alcohol reactant in the esterification of sebacic acid and phthalic acid to produce dioctyl sebacate (DOS) and Green DOP plasticizers.
Fragrance Compounds
Natural-sourced octanol is used in fine fragrance and functional fragrance applications for its rose-like, citrus-floral character.
Surfactant Intermediates
Ethoxylated octanol derivatives are used as non-ionic surfactants in agricultural adjuvants, industrial cleaners, and emulsification systems.
